Competency-Bridging Program of Study for Internationally Educated Nurses (IENs)

We want to help you realize your professional potential here in Canada

The University of Windsor, in collaboration with three other Ontario universities, is part of the Ontario Internationally Educated Nurses Course Consortium. The Ontario Internationally Educated Nurses Course Consortium has developed a hybrid model competency-bridging program of study to help prepare Internationally Educated Nurses (IENs) to launch their registered nursing careers in Ontario.

Internationally Educated Nurses (IENs) looking to launch their registered nursing careers in Ontario.

 

In order to be eligible to register for the competency-bridging program of study, applicants must have the following:

  1. Applicants must have a current open application with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  2. Proof of authorization to work which includes Canadian citizenship, or permanent residence status, or authorization to practice nursing in Ontario (see How to Apply page for details).
  3. Proof of Ontario residency. All applicants must be residents of Ontario (See How to Apply page for details).
  4. Proof of English language proficiency if English is an additional language for you (see How to Apply page for details).
  5. A working knowledge of computer technology in order to use the learning management system for the online components of the courses. Candidates must have access to a computer, Microsoft Office, and Internet for the courses.
  6. The competency-bridging program of study has online and face to face components. Students will be required to do independent and group work throughout the program of study. Applicants must be able to meet the scheduling requirements and time commitments needed for the full-time program of study.

Students will not be required to pay tuition. Students will be required to pay for police record checks, verification of non-academic requirements, and other costs as needed.
